What Are Cranes Used For On Construction Sites?

Published 19 October 2022

Cranes are an essential piece of equipment on any construction site. They are used to move heavy objects and materials around, which can speed up the construction process. There are several different types of cranes, each with its own unique set of capabilities. In this blog post, we will discuss the different types of cranes and what they are used for on construction sites.

What are Cranes Used for on Construction Sites?

  • Construction workers use cranes to move heavy objects and materials around construction sites.
  • They are used to construct buildings, bridges, dams, and other large infrastructure projects.
  • They can also be used to assemble large pieces of machinery.
  • Some cranes can be used for demolishing buildings.

Types of cranes:

Tower crane:

Tower cranes are tall, freestanding structures that can be used to lift heavy objects and materials. They are often used in high rise construction to move materials such as bricks, concrete, and steel around a construction site.

Mobile crane:

Mobile cranes are mounted on trucks or trailers and can be moved around a construction site. They are typically used for lifting heavy objects and materials, but can also be used for moving construction equipment around a site.

Overhead crane:

Overhead cranes are mounted on a beam or gantry and can be used to lift heavy objects and materials. They are often used in factories or warehouses to move products and materials around.

Slew crane:

The slew crane can rotate 270 degrees or more. They are used to place materials in hard-to-reach places, such as the top of a tall building.

Franna crane:

The franna crane can be used to lift and move construction materials such as bricks, concrete, and steel around a construction site.

Cranes are an essential piece of equipment on any construction site. If you have any questions about which type of crane is right for your project, feel free to contact us!
