Where heavy lift starts

At 150 t we are into heavy lift territory: precast panels, bridge beams, plant installs and loads where a lift study is part of the job. The Grove GMK5150L is the smallest crane in our heavy lift range, which runs up to the 350 t Liebherr LTM 1350-6.1.

Heavy lifts are planned, not guessed. Where a lift needs extra counterweight we bring it on our own prime movers and low loaders, and our lift supervisors can run the lift on the day.

We have one GMK5150L, so for a particular date call early. If it is booked we will tell you what else we can send.

Typical work

What a 150 t crane lifts

Bridge beams and girders

Girders and beams lifted into place within the crane's chart, to a lift plan.

Precast

Wall panels, columns and heavy structural elements.

Plant installs

Vessels, tanks, presses and heavy machinery lifted into position.

Energy and utilities

Transformers and plant for substations and energy projects, where the chart allows.

High lifts over buildings

The 60 m main boom reaches up and over for chillers, steel and large plant.

Shutdowns and night lifts

Planned shutdown cranes and night lifts. We take bookings 24/7.

Engineered in-house

A 150 t lift is drawn before it is lifted

  • A CAD lift study over real site imagery: working radius, slew path and exclusion zones mapped
  • Configuration, boom length, counterweight, line pull, outrigger loads and ground pressure worked out before the crane arrives
  • Lift plan and SWMS issued ahead of the works

Where it sits

Is this the right size?

The heavy lift range starts here and runs to 350 t. If your load and radius sit comfortably inside the 100 t chart, you may not need a heavy lift crane. If they push the 150 t chart, the 230 t LTM 1230-5.1 is the next step.

Other crane sizes

Before you book

What to send us

Four things let us size the crane and quote. Photos help with all of them.

01

The load

Its weight including rigging gear and any spreader beam, its size and its lifting points. Drawings help.

02

The reach and height

How far the load must go out from the crane and how high. Mark where it starts and where it ends on a site plan or photo.

03

The ground and access

Site address, ground conditions, space for outriggers and how a five-axle crane gets in. We can arrange a site visit.

04

The date and window

When you need it, and any closure or shutdown window the lift has to fit inside.

Questions

150t crane hire in Brisbane

How much can a 150 t crane actually lift?

Its rated 150 t is only available close in. At longer radius the chart allows much less, so a 150 t crane does not lift 150 t at full reach. Give us the load and the radius and we will check the chart before we quote. See also How to read a crane load chart.

Do I need a lift plan for a 150 t lift?

Our lift engineer prepares a lift study, lift plan and SWMS ahead of heavy lifts, so everyone can see how the lift works before the day.

Is the 150 t crane based in Brisbane?

Yes. The Grove GMK5150L works from our Tingalpa yard. We have one, so for a specific date call early.

Does a 150 t crane need permits to get to site?

Large cranes, and any counterweight carried separately, may need road transport permits, and setting up on a road needs a council permit. We tell you what applies to your site and can arrange it. Allow lead time.

Can you supply riggers, doggers and a lift supervisor?

Yes. We supply qualified riggers and doggers, and accredited lift supervisors who run complex lifts from set-up to sign-off.

How much does 150t crane hire cost in Brisbane?

It depends on the hours, the crew, any permits and how the crane has to be set up. Most jobs have a minimum hire. Send us the details for a fixed, itemised quote.
